It took a while for me to get used to our D/S dynamic in restaurants. I was once at a dinner party, late in the evening and “relaxed”, and I actually used that “it’s what you do with it” line.
I can still hear the silence in the room and see the sympathetic facial expressions of the other women as they looked to my wife.
She responded with “it’s not a problem for us, it’s not like he gets to use it anyway”. Which deflated both the tension in the room and me.
It had a good outcome too, more than one woman later offered to lend my wife their partner and more than one man directly offered their services. So it turned out fine for her.
